Questions Asked About Changing Neighborhoods
Half-folded 8-page staple-bound pamphlet titled, "Questions Asked About Changing Neighborhoods," written by George Henderson and published by the Detroit Urban League's Community Service Department. The pamphlet is targeted at white readers and is intended to assuage fears and concerns that arose as African Americans moved into predominately white neighborhoods. The pamphlet opens with a statement from Detroit Urban league Executive Director Frances A. Kornegay, followed by an introduction titled, "Questions about Changing Neighborhoods," and "Five Basic Questions and Answers." The questions are, "Why Do Negroes Want to Move Into White Neighborhoods," "Do Property Values Automatically Go Down When Negroes Move Into White Neighborhoods," "What Type of Negroes Will Be Moving Into White Neighborhoods," "Would Negroes Be Content to Remain Where They Are If Their Neighborhoods were Improved," and "What Should Be Done When Negroes Move Into White Neighborhoods." Each question is accompanied by a passage answering the matter, which includes suggestions for further readings. The pamphlet ends with a list of six bullet points enumerating "How Urban League Works For A Better Community." The pamphlet's cover features a large dark blue question mark against a lighter blue background. Text on the cover provides the Detroit Urban League's address as "208 Mack Avenue, Detroit 1, Michigan."
