Silent color 16mm film containing footage presumably shot for "Detroit Means Business," of an event in New Center Park.
The reel opens with a series of pans between the southwestern face of General Motors Building to New Center Park below. Several shots follow of the park, its fountain, and people in the park. A "Celebrate New Center!" banner is hung along one of the park's terraces. A group of people are shown racing around the perimeter of the park while holding pancakes in frying pans. A four-piece band and a caricature artist are also present in the park, and prominently featured in shots. The camera also pans from the neighboring Fisher Building down to the band in one shot. In the final shot, a family seated by the fountain applauds.
The reel is core housed in a 35mm tin with 2015.007.075. An Allied Film Labs label on the tin is made out to R. Salt, and dated August 1981.
