Telephone directory entitled "The Speaking Telephone! List of Subscribers connected with the Central Office System, Detroit, September 15, 1878." The directory is 8 pages in length and is printed in black text on yellowed paper. Subscriber's names are listed alphabetically on three pages and the remaining pages show the names of various advertisers. The directory is a reprint by the "Telephone Pioneers of America, Wolverine Chapter Number 10" whose name is superimposed over a portion of the text on the directory cover page. Possibly, this reprinted copy the directory was used for advertising or celebration purposes by the Pioneers. (The Telephone Pioneers was an employee social and volunteer service club that was sponsored by Michigan Bell Telephone Company.)
