Certificate appointing Charles H. Mahoney a Representative of the United States in the United Nations, signed by President Dwight Eisenhower and Secretary of State John Foster Dulles and affixed with the white seal of the President of the United States.

The text of the certificate is as follows:

"Dwight D. Eisenhower
President of the United States of America

To all who shall see these presents, Greeting:

Know Ye, that reposing special trust and confidence in the Integrity and Ability of Charles H. Mahoney, of Michigan, I have nominated, and, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, do appoint him a Representative of the United States of America to the Ninth Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, to serve no longer than December 31, 1954, and do authorize and empower him to execute and fulfil the duties of this commission, according to law, with all the powers, privileges, and emoluments thereunto of right appertaining during the pleasure of the President of the United States.

In testimony whereof, I have caused these Letters to be made Patent, and the Seal of the United States to be hereunto affixed.

Done at the City of Washington this seventh day of August, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fifty-four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the one hundred and seventy-ninth.
