Running book used by Martin Cooney, Superintendent of Horses for the Detroit Fire Department, as indicated by a handwritten note on the inside cover. The first page contains regulations concerning the answering of fire alarms from Chief James Broderick, dated March 15, 1907. The book contains nine sections, each corresponding to a numbered tab. Each page contains a ledger with the number and cross streets of the city's fire alarms, along with fields for recording the number of the engine company, ladder company, hose company, water tower company, supply company, and number of officers to respond to each. The book is bound in black cloth-covered cover.
