In partnership with the Detroit Public Theatre, join us for a special event presentation of The Mountaintop. The Mountaintop is a gripping reimagining of events the night before the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Taking place on April 3, 1968, after the legendary civil rights leader delivers one of his most memorable speeches, the exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside. When a mysterious stranger arrives and reveals a secret, Dr. King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy to his people.
Rodney Deal, DHS Vice President of Education and Outreach, will lead a talkback after the performance, inviting the audience into a thoughtful conversation about the play’s themes, its historical context, and Dr. King’s enduring impact.
