Celebrate your important role in preserving and sharing Detroit’s history during Member Appreciation Day, a special event created exclusively for Detroit Historical Society members. As a thank-you for your continued support, enjoy a full day of engaging experiences, behind-the-scenes insights, and opportunities to connect with fellow history enthusiasts.
The day begins with a screening of the acclaimed documentary The Russian Five at 10:10 a.m., followed by a special Q&A session with director Joshua Riehl. Learn more about the remarkable story behind the legendary Detroit Red Wings players who helped transform the franchise and Hockeytown itself.
Following the film, members and their guests are invited to explore the museum through docent-led tours that offer deeper perspectives on some of our most popular exhibitions. Join the Origins: Life Where the River Bends tour at 12:20 p.m. to discover the stories of the region’s earliest inhabitants, or take part in the Detroit 67: Perspectives tour at 1:00 p.m. to examine one of the most pivotal moments in Detroit’s history through multiple viewpoints.
Throughout the day, enjoy hands-on crafts, light refreshments, and the opportunity to spend time with fellow members while experiencing the museum in a unique and engaging way.
This event is open to members at all membership levels. Advance registration is required. Guests are welcome, and all guest names must be provided at the time of registration.
