Step back with us to into postwar Detroit, where noir shadows, midcentury style, and a city at its most chic set the scene for the black-and-white photography of self-taught photographer Norman Zadoorian. His son, author Michael Zadoorian, offers a behind-the-scenes look at his father’s work, tracing its evolution from the moody, noir-inflected images of the late 1940s to the lively street scenes and changing character of Detroit in the 1950s and beyond.
