As summer comes to a close and we welcome the crisp days of fall, we invite you to join us for our final Member Morning of the season at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum. This month’s program will feature our own Curator of Collections, Bill Pringle, who will share highlights from Mail by the Pail: the J.W. Westcott Company, the museum’s newest exhibition.
For more than 150 years, the J.W. Westcott Company has been a familiar and beloved presence on the Detroit River. Affectionately known as the “mail boat,” the Westcott has provided a vital link between the shore and passing ships, earning the unique distinction of being home to the nation’s only floating ZIP code: 48222.
Come enjoy a morning of camaraderie with fellow members as Bill brings this fascinating maritime story to life, celebrating one of Detroit’s most enduring traditions.
