Centerpoint: Mapping Detroit’s Ceramic Legacy traces Detroit's deep history with clay and the local institutions and creators that shaped it. Groundbreaking artists including Mary Chase Perry Stratton, Horace Caulkins, Maija Grotell, and others, are showcased along with a diverse variety of pieces by nine contemporary ceramicists, curated by Kimberly Luther, Detroit Historical Society Assistant Manager of Retail & Visitor Services.
Presented in partnership with National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) and Volumes, their 60th annual conference, College for Creative Studies, Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research, and Pewabic Pottery. With additional thanks to Kresge Arts in Detroit.
